Futsal Charity Tournament for Cancer Research

There’s something incredibly right about sports and charity. They effortlessly blend unity and diversity to celebrate sports-related events and help fundraise for important causes. That’s exactly what HULUR Malaysia did for Cancer Research Malaysia (CRMY) when they organised the Futsal Charity Tournament.

In case some of you who are not familiar with HULUR Malaysia, they are a social enterprise that brings fitness, entrepreneurship, and empathy together to make a positive impact on lives, especially for those who are underprivileged, disabled, or in need.

Norazila Mazlan, a Johorean IT System Engineer and the leader at HULUR Malaysia, is all about giving back to the community. Having previously served as the Event Manager, she seamlessly transitioned into the role of President, bringing with her a dedication to service that continues to shape HULUR Malaysia’s dedication to make a difference.

“This is our first time reaching out to CRMY, showing our commitment to assist cancer research and cancer patients. It marks a new chapter for us as we extend our support to a cancer organisation for the first time.”

The Futsal Charity Tournament is HULUR Malaysia’s way of stepping into the world of cancer-related causes. Choosing futsal as the fundraising game plan wasn’t random for HULUR Malaysia. With previous experience in organising sports events, they know it will attract for folks who want to have fun while supporting a good cause.

Engaging the community in the Futsal Charity Tournament involved reaching out through social media and sharing brief insights about cancer throughout the games. It’s a straightforward yet impactful approach. It goes beyond just participating in sports as the goal is to instil awareness and educate the community about the crucial role of cancer research.

While the event was a blast, there’s no such thing as absolute perfection. Norazila shared that one of the biggest challenges in organising a sports event is securing sponsorship. Juggling the budget for venues, prizes, and other necessities required them to roll up their sleeves and make it all happen. The effort paid off, knowing that the returns in terms of both awareness and funds raised outweighed the difficulties.

In their contribution of RM5000 to CRMY, Hulur Malaysia acknowledges that it is not an enormous sum. Still, they remain optimistic that it will make a meaningful contribution to the noble cause of supporting cancer patients through various activities and research initiatives. Ultimately, the goal is to make a difference and create a good impact, regardless of its size.

Looking ahead, HULUR Malaysia is ready for fresh ideas and projects that can help those in need. They’re not locked into long-term plans with CRMY yet but ready to support anything that brings about meaningful improvements. It’s this flexibility and openness that keeps HULUR Malaysia stay active and ready to meet the changing needs of the community.
